Your privacy at TraderCockpit

This page explains what the TraderCockpit website, the Windows app and the account service collect, where it goes, and when those connections occur. TraderCockpit is made by Michael Dixon, doing business as TraderCockpit (“we”).

Browser storage

Optional research notes use this browser's local storage.

Ordinary browsing does not set cookies or analytics storage. The research-notes tool reads localStorage so it can restore a saved copy and writes only when you choose “Save on this device.” Those notes are not sent to a server by that tool. Clearing browser data can remove the saved copy. Normal page and asset requests still reach the site's hosting service.

Search

Help search uses a same-origin static index.

Search loads search-index.v1.json from this site. In-app search handoff uses a URL fragment so the query is not sent to a third-party search provider.

Analytics

Plausible runs only when configured.

Analytics is currently pending an operator account. When active, Plausible receives page views, referral and UTM information and Guide Click events to measure visits and onward reading. It does not collect an email address through this site. Referral attribution is unavailable until analytics is active.

Video

YouTube is optional and click-to-load.

No YouTube player is requested on ordinary lesson load. Choosing “Load video from YouTube” creates a privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com embed; following the research-channel link also leaves this site for YouTube.

Email capture

This site has no signup form.

Public email-capture forms and signup tracking have been retired. Ordinary browsing makes no requests to Kit. Existing subscriber records have not been deleted by this website change.

The Windows app

Your work stays on your PC.

The Windows app and account service are in development; the sections below describe how they are built to handle your information, and this notice will be updated before release if that changes.

Strategies, Builder and Retester results, robustness tests, charts and layouts, data files and market history, paper trading accounts, your journal and your Apollo conversations are stored on your PC. We don’t upload them and can’t see them. The app has no usage analytics or tracking and doesn’t send crash reports. If you ask for help, the app can make a support file on your PC that you read before deciding to send it; it holds app and account status, not your strategies, data or passwords.

Your account

Google sign-in on the account page; a product key on the desktop.

You create an account on the account page by signing in with Google. We ask Google only for your email address and Google account ID. The desktop app never uses your Google sign-in. The account page sets two sign-in cookies, never used for tracking: one for ten minutes during sign-in, and one that keeps you signed in for at most 24 hours.

From the account page you create a product key and type it into the app once. The app keeps it on your PC, encrypted by Windows, and sends it only to our account service. The service stores a one-way fingerprint of the key and a masked copy, so it can recognise the key but not read it back. Replacing the key stops the old one working.

Apollo

Apollo sends your question to OpenRouter.

Apollo’s answers come from AI models reached through OpenRouter. The app sends the current conversation and anything you choose to attach, such as a file, image, web page or strategy details, and not the rest of your work. With your plan’s credit, requests go through our account service, or straight from the app with a spending-limited key issued to your account; OpenRouter gets a one-way code, not your name or email. With your own OpenRouter key, requests go from your PC straight to OpenRouter under your own account. Voice recordings go to OpenRouter to be turned into text. For requests through our service we keep the reply, model and cost, so a retried request isn’t run or charged twice; we don’t keep your messages.

Broker connections

Brokers connect through SnapTrade, and orders are sent only when you confirm them.

You sign in to your broker on SnapTrade’s connection page in your browser, so TraderCockpit never sees your broker password. We register you with SnapTrade under a code made one-way from your account ID, not your name or email. With the access you grant, TraderCockpit reads your accounts’ balances, positions, transactions and orders and shows them in the app, and sends the orders you confirm on a chart to your broker.

Our account service keeps an encrypted SnapTrade access secret (encrypted with Google Cloud’s key service), which broker and accounts are connected, and their status. Balances, positions, transactions and orders pass through to your PC; we keep only when each update ran, how many items it had and a fingerprint to spot changes. For each order you confirm we keep the order details, your broker’s reply and order number, and timing, so an order is never sent twice. You can disconnect at any time. Brokers and data feeds you connect directly, such as MetaTrader 5 on your PC, talk to the app on your PC; any token you enter is encrypted by Windows and sent only to that service.

Payments

Stripe handles card payments.

Checkout is closed today. When it opens, you enter card details on Stripe’s checkout page and we never see your card number. We send Stripe your email address, account ID and the plan or Apollo credit you choose, and keep your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, plan, billing period, Apollo credit, and a record of charges and Apollo usage.

Account records

What our account service keeps, and who else is involved.

The account service runs on Google Cloud in the United States (Cloud Run, with records in Firestore). It keeps your account (email address, Google account ID, date created, plan and access status), the product key fingerprint, sign-in sessions, and the billing, Apollo, broker connection and order records described above. We share information only with the services that run TraderCockpit: Google (hosting, sign-in and storage), Stripe, OpenRouter and the AI model provider it routes to, and SnapTrade and the broker you connect. We don’t sell personal information or use it for advertising. These services may process information in the United States, Canada and other countries, under their own privacy terms.

Your choices

See, export or delete your account information.

You can disconnect brokers, replace your product key and sign out at any time. Account, connection and order records are kept while your account is open. Ask us to close your account and we delete those records, except billing records the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires. Depending on where you live, you may also ask to see, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold, or object to how we use it: email support@trader-cockpit.com and we’ll reply within one month. TraderCockpit is for adults and isn’t meant for anyone under 18.

Third-party services

Third-party services receive data only when you use them.

Configured analytics, loading YouTube, or opening an external link sends a request to that provider. Their own privacy terms then apply.

Changes to this page

We will update this notice when the site adds a new data-sharing integration.

If TraderCockpit adds a new form processor, analytics service, media host, checkout provider, or similar integration, this page will identify it.
